Lise enjoying her lessons
Lise has a passion for music and especially enjoyed the violin. One of her dreams was to learn to play. In fact she had bought herself the instrument in hopes that one day this would happen. Pictured below is Lise with Jennifer, her violin instructor, enjoying a violin lesson. The dollars provided by the United Way were instrumental in providing this opportunity for Lise to connect with her teacher until a rapport was made, where the staff member didn’t need to be there during the lessons anymore. Thank you to the United Way for making dreams come true and helping with developing natural friendships!

United Way helps our agency in so many ways.
During the summer of 2019 we saw a rebuild of our home where there were people that moved out of the home and people that moved into the home.
When we asked the individuals how they could come together, to help work though the changes, three of the individuals identified that they would like to go camping together like last year.
With the help of United Way funding, the three individuls planned out the trip and at the end of September rented a cabin at Kettle Lakes.
While camping, the individuals enjoyed evening fires, where they cooked their suppers and roasted Marshmellows. They also went fishing, went for Kayak rides, and played outdoor games.
Thank you United Way for making this happen, and if asked, I will definitely want to go as the staff member one more time for this great weekend experience.

Hospital Support
One of our main priorities for Community Living Timmins is to make sure that the individuals are safe at all times. One worry that both the families and we share is that when something occurs we want to know that we have responded quick enough to get the individuals the medical attention they deserve, when needed.
Because of the generousity of United Way, should any of the individuals be admitted to the hospital, we never have to worry that they won’t receive the extra support they need. We are grateful to know that staff can act on the spot, knowing that the additional expedature for staffing won’t be a worry. Imagine being admitted to the hosptial without anyone who knows you and your non-traditional methods of communication.
How scary it would be without a familiar face that can help make sense of things in a manner that you would understand. That is just one of the things that we can do because of the United Way.
Thank you United Way for helping to take this stress away and allowing us to care for our individuals worry free.
