Position Description (Job Description Subject to Change): ACCOMMODATIONS
This position involves being able to work in a variety of work locations, which include cooking, cleaning and assisting people with their personal care. The duties of this position includes: connecting people to activities in the community, patience, compassion and having a profound respect for people are expected. To provide direct support to individuals and families of people supported by CLTIC as defined by the person and/or their Person-Centred Plan (PCP)
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Secondary School Grade 12 Diploma or Equivalent – Required
- Ability to communicate both orally & in writing in English – Required
- Experience working as a team member – Required
- Class “G” driver’s license – Required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality – Required
- Standard First Aid and C.P.R. – Required
- Be able to work flexible hours – Required
- CPI (Crisis Prevention & Intervention) – Asset.
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening – Required
- Some experience working with people with an intellectual disability/dual diagnosis who may speak through their behaviour – Asset
- WHIMIS – Asset
Salary: $25.60 + 13% in lieu of benefits

From time to time, Community Living Timmins requires part time/casual assistance to replace full time workers during periods of vacation, illness, leaves of absence and union business, etc… We are interested in developing and maintaining a bank of qualified applicants. Foundations – The Foundations Program is a transitions initiative and partnership amongst Community Living Timmins Intégration Communautaire, Cochrane Temiskaming Resource Centre, Access Better Living Incorporated and Cochrane Temiskaming Extend-a-Family, funded by the Ministry of Community and Social Services. Passport – Passport is a program that helps adults with a developmental disability be involved in their communities and live as independently as possible by providing funding for community participation services and supports, activities of daily living and person-directed planning. Residential Services – We operate six residential homes, including two that are wheelchair accessible for individuals who need daily support. All our homes are staffed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Our focus is on making real homes for people that respects their need for privacy, friendship and personal choices. This allows them to enjoy being appreciated for who they are and what they want out of life. Supported Employment Services – Supported Employment Services (SES) assists people with an intellectual disability to explore employment opportunities. This includes assistance with resume writing, work skills development, placement matching, on the job training and follow up with both the employer and worker. Employment specialists meet with individuals for career counselling. They then match the needs of both employers and individuals when seeking potential worksites. Support services are offered at no cost to the employer. SES provides on-the-job training, as well as monitoring individual’s progress through follow-up. Supported Independent Living – Supported Independent Living (SIL) provides people with the opportunity and support to live semi-independently within the community. Living arrangements are sought together based on the person’s wants and needs. Options could be room and board, room only, an apartment either shared or on their own, or owning their own home. Support workers provide intermittent support in all aspects of a person’s life, in conjunction with family and other community supports. For a person to be as independent as possible, support includes but is not limited to; medical, financial, advocacy, community skills, nutrition, etc.… For more information please visit: Supported Independent Living
