Registration now open for our course, Mental health for adults with developmental disabilities during COVID-19: A virtual course for family caregivers

This six-week course is for Ontario family caregivers of adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities (IDD). The curriculum will specifically address the mental health challenges that this population can face during the COVID-19 pandemic. Click here for more information and to register for the course. When does it run?

Wednesday from 12:30 – 2:00 PM EST from March 17th to April 21st 2021.

How does it work?

During the 1.5 hour session, there will be a short moment of mindfulness, a weekly update on COVID news, a presentation from our family and clinical leaders, and time for discussion.  The community will have a chance to engage and learn from one another. Sessions are engaging, interactive, practical and evidence-based.

  • Getting help for mental health concerns
  • Empowering family caregivers to improve health care communication
  • Managing mental health during COVID-19: An introduction to strategies for mental health concerns
  • Health care planning: Promoting decision-making capabilities
  • The impact of grief and loss during the pandemic
  • Self-care: Caring for the caregiver
